According to dictionary DOT com, addiction is "the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma".
I'm not sure if my case can be stated as addiction but almost fifteen years of working at Yahoo!, surrounded by smart people and exciting work, always was rewarding and a compelling incentive to repeatedly pursue the behavior—getting up in the morning to go work at the 'awesomest' company in Silicon Valley.
Verizon's purchase of Yahoo! gave me a pause to think, and after few months of thinking, I've decided to hang up my Yahoo! backpack. Currently I'm taking a break which will, I'm hoping, kinda like rehab / recovery, better prepare me for the next step / stop in my career.
Will never forget all the wonderful memories of working at a company started by Jerry and Filo. Thanks, y'all!
